38. The Douay-Rheims Bible

Did you know? 🤔 The Douay-Rheims Bible, completed in 1610, was the first full English Catholic Bible translation, released 226 years after Wycliffe's unauthorized version. It was produced by English Catholic exiles in France during a time when it was illegal to be Catholic in England. This translation was based on the Latin Vulgate rather than the original Greek and Hebrew texts.

How do you think this translation impacted English-speaking Catholics during that tumultuous period? Share your thoughts on my Facebook Page!
