12. The Latin Vulgate

Did you know? 🤔 The Latin Vulgate, the standard Bible of the Catholic Church for over a millennium, was translated mainly by Saint Jerome in the late 4th century AD. Jerome spent over 20 years working on this translation, learning Hebrew and Aramaic to translate directly from original texts rather than solely relying on existing Greek translations. While highly influential, the Vulgate contains several differences from modern translations due to the manuscripts available then and later scribal additions.
